Some (sad) News.

14/04/2011 16:27

Some sad news...

I am afraid that we have some sad news to report.

Unfortunately Huxley will be closing it's doors from this Sunday.

We have had a great run for the last two years, but the time has come to close our doors whilst we work out the best future for our brand. Which is very sad.

The good news though is that we will be reducing everything on the website by 50% for the next 3 days before we close our doors on Sunday.

So if you have ever thought about going for some Huxley colour but never got round to it, then now is the time to act.

Our jumpers will be reduced to £42.50

Our cardigans to £47.50

Our socks to £5

And finally our belts to £27.50

Its not all bad though...

We will be maintaining the Huxley blog, and those of you who are fans of the brand should keep your eyes peeled as we will be releasing our much anticipated Huxley Brightsoles shoes (as seen above).

We will also be releasing some limited edition Huxley pieces over the next year or so while we reassess and rethink the Huxley of the future.

And finally...

We would like to thank you all for your support over last two years. It has been great fun.

This is not the end for Huxley. Just a pause whilst we collect our thoughts.

Thanks as always,
Huxley.

How to Spend It

07/04/2011 12:00

We have recently had a rather nice seal of approval from none other than the FT's How to Spend column and Lucia Van der Post. As you can image the FT crowd are a hard bunch to crack, so we are very appreciative of their comments. You can read the piece here or by clicking on the image above.

We have been very luck recently to get some lovely press attention from both the Saturday Times magazine (above). Who are quick to point out how to "colour block" with Huxley.

And then Sky Sports (below) have been keen to point out how well a Huxley sleeveless jumper suits the golf course. Their exact words were in fact: "Wearing Huxley knitwear won't improve your game but at least it'll distract onlookers to focus on your jumper, rather than the drive you've just shanked into a bunker."

Two very valid points from two very valid sources we think!

At the end of 2010, Huxley was lucky enough to be invited to give a Purchase Prize at The Discerning Eye exhibition in London.

The Discerning Eye is an educational charity, established in the UK in 1990, to encourage a wider understanding and appreciation of the visual arts and to stimulate debate about the place and purpose of art in our society, and the contribution each one of us can make to its development. Check them out here - it is a great charity and a great Exhibition.

Here you can see Huxley’s founder, Benjamin Benton, talking about why Huxley gives a prize at the exhibition and why he chose the painting he chose.

The painting (below) is called Lighter Sequence 1 and is by the young artist Rosemary Lewis. As you can see the painting not only channels a colour palette close to Huxley’s heart, but also uses the classic plastic lighter which somehow seems to resonate with both Huxley and with our target audience. At least we hope it does.

We thought some of you may find it interesting to see the first shots of our first foray into shoes. The Huxley "Brightsoles Chukka" will be available in Autumn 2011 and we hope you agree that they are pretty fly.

We will start with the three colour ways you see before your eyes, but if they go well the possibilities are endless!

The boots are made in Northamptonshire and are a 100% suede upper with a reinforces foam sole. The colour ways are as follows:

1. Sand suede upper, bright yellow sole

2. Navy blue upper, bright blue sole

3. Grey suede upper, bright green sole

Huxley & His & Hers

26/01/2011 11:35

The Huxley cardigans continue to get great recommendations by the country's fashion press. Now it is the turn of His & Hers Magazine in Liverpool to give Huxley a nice little shout out in their Top 10 Men's picks for the month. His & Hers is a high-quality monthly glossy for Liverpudlian men & women with a keen eye for fashion & style.

Better late than never we thought we would share some photos from Huxley's little sojourn in to the men's fashion melting pot that is Pitti Uomo in Florence. Enjoy:

Some of you will have heard of it and many of you will not have, but Pitti Uomo is the world's largest and most renowned menswear trade show. Twice a year this prestigious event, held in Florence, showcases old and new talent, presenting brands to press and buyers from all over the globe. And because it's an invitation only affair, it's a wonderful privilege to be showing there. Which is exactly what Huxley will be doing this year! The show runs from January 11th-14th and so anyone loitering around Florence over that period is more than welcome to pop in and say hello.

As some of you will have seen in the Saturday Times Magazine on the 6th November Huxley was picked out as their brand to watch and amongst others Chris Evans was picked out as a fan of the brand. And last week, our roving founder was lucky enough to bump into Mr Evans at a charity dinner and double check he is a big Huxley fan. His response: "I certainly do love colour!" Need we say more. A pleasure to meet you Mr Evans. Keep up the good work.

Brand watch: Huxley

As many of you may have seen, this weekend Huxley was picked out by Simon Hills at The Times as their brand to watch. We thank you Simon for your keen eye. Check out the piece above, and please do excuse the mugshot of our usually camera shy founder!

Everyone at Huxley has joined the growing club of modern gentlemen who believe in the virtues of fine moustachery, immaculate grooming and growing a moustache for Movember.

Movember is about raising funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. One man dies every hour from the disease in the UK.

It’s time we did something about this.

The more people we get on board, the more lives we can impact. If you would like to join Huxley's team (Mo Huxley, Mo Problems) and either grow a moustache as a Mo Bro, or join as a Mo Sista, then please do. The more the merrier to help us on our journey.

To join Huxley’s Movember team go to http://uk.movember.com/register/154860 and follow the steps. Once registered you'll be sent all the information you need to raise funds and start growing as part of our Movember team.
